The European Champions put on an incredible show as they knocked out the Galácticos in Wednesday’s semi final at the MetLife stadium.
When this fixture was drawn, many had expected Real Madrid to live up to their pedigree. However, it was Paris St Germain who put in one of the best first half performances of the tournament to oust the Spanish giants.
Real Madrid required two great saves from Thibaut Courtois to keep the score goalless in the first four minutes. But there was no stopping PSG as they opened the scoring a minute later.
It was a terrible mistake by Rail Asencio that led to the opener. The Real Madrid defender was sloppy in the box allowing Fabian Ruiz to slot home from about 10 yards out after great work from Ousmane Dembele.
It didn’t take long after play restarted for Paris St Germain to double their lead. A horrible mistake Antonio Rudiger defenders lets in Ousmane Dembele and the Balón D’or hopeful calmly slot it past Courtois.
Real Madrid were devastated, 2 goals behind in less than 10 minutes of football. They just couldn’t get anything going for them and any hopes of a comeback were smashed 15 minutes later as PSG added another through Fabian Ruiz. The Spain international Fabian Ruiz gets the better of Federico Valverde before finishing from about 10 yards. It was his second goal of the game.
PSG dominated this first half so much that they led in every category including offsides! They had 77% share of the possession, 6 shots on target, 402 passes with 95% of those completed. It was just sheer dominant display from Luis Enrique’s boys. Only Courtois’s performance kept the score at 3-0 before half-time. 
The game was pretty much decided in that first half as Real Madrid couldn’t muster anything reasonable in the second. Not even a switch in formation or substituting Bellingham for Modric could change anything. Instead, it was Paris St Germain who added another goal late on. Gonçalo Ramos adding the final cherry to the already embarrassing scoreline as PSG set up a final showdown with Chelsea.
