Chelsea are rarely ever shy in the transfer market, always able to make their presence felt each transfer window. Whether it’s marquee signing or bargain for young talents, Chelsea is always in the mix. This summer transfer window has been no different. The London based outfit has made no fewer than eight signings already this summer, despite being busy with the FIFA Club World Cup in the US.

With all the players Chelsea currently have in their ranks, one may wonder where their new signings would fit in their squad. Here we do justice to that, taking a look at every of Chelsea’s signings this summer transfer window, and how they would fit into the club’s squad and system.

Dario Essugo - Every Chelsea signing this Summer transfer Window

• Darío Essugo

Signed for a reported £18 million fee from Sporting CP. Dario Essugo plays primarily as a defensive midfielder. He is known for his aggressive style, strong tackling, and ability to intercept passes. The 20 years old Portuguese is a versatile midfielder who excels at winning back possession and disrupting opponent attacks. He has good passing and ball-carrying skills, Essugo is expected to rival Romeo Lavia for a spot in midfield alongside Moises Caicedo. He could also deputize for the later. Darío Essugo has already made his Chelsea debut in the Club World Cup against Los Angeles FC.

Geovany Quenda - Every Chelsea signing this Summer transfer Window

Chelsea have also secured the signing of another Portuguese player from Sporting CP. Geovany Quenda joined for a fee that can ride to £44 depending on ‘clauses’. The 18 year old right winger scored three goals and recorded two assists for Portugal U-21 in the UEFA Euro U-21. Known for his pace, close control and dribbling skills, Geovany Quenda is quite comfortable on the wings and in midfield. He would spend the coming season on loan in Portugal.

Physically imposing and aggressive, Liam Delap is a direct striker with good hold up play. It remains to be seen if he would cement a starting spot in the team given the amount of striking options available to Enzo Maresca.

Probably one of the most interesting of Chelsea’s signings this summer, Estevão Willian will join from Palmeiras after the Club World Cup. The Brazilian scored against Chelsea in the quarter finals as the Blues defeated Palmeiras to advance to the semis. Chelsea had already reached an agreement with the Brazilian side for Estevão since last summer, but the signing could only be completed after the player turned 18.

Estevão Willian will likely feature in the right wing for Chelsea and is expected to replace Noni Madueke should the Englishman join Arsenal.

Some Chelsea players are already excited to have Willian in their squad, with Cole Palmer notably hugging the Brazilian after the quarter final match against Palmeiras at the ongoing Club World Cup.

Kendry Páez - New Chelsea signing

Kendry Páez is another player whom the Blues had prior agreement for. He joins from Independiente del Valle. The Ecuador international plays primarily as a winger or attacking midfielder. If he isn’t sent out on loan this season, he is likely to understudy Cole Palmer in the number 10 role. Kendry is a bright prospect and is already a part of the Ecuador national team.

Mamadou Sarr joins Chelsea from Strasbourg

Jõao Pedro’s signing came during the Club World Cup and the player immediately linked up with the Chelsea squad, making his debut against Palmeiras. He has been assigned the number 20 shirt. With Jõao Pedro’s arrival, Chelsea now have as many as three strikers in the first team and many believe the Brazilian would be first choice judging by his cameo against Palmeiras.

Jamie Gittens joins Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund

Signed from Borussia Dortmund where he scored eight goals and assisted two in 32 Bundesliga games last season, Jamie Gittens is comfortable on the left wing. He possesses brilliant pace, quick feet, and ability to beat his marker 1 v 1. The 20 years old English man is expected to fill the void left by Jadon Sancho who has returned to Manchester United after his loan spell.

Overall, it has been an excellent summer for Chelsea, attracting a lot of young talented players, and currently in the semi finals of the FIFA Club World Cup.

Despite signing 8 players, Chelsea are not done doing business. The Blues are still on the lookout for a top goalkeeper. They were linked with AC Milan’s Mike Maignan but seems to be looking elsewhere now. Chelsea, Barcelona, Aston Villa and AS Roma are among 12 clubs recently fined by UEFA for breaching Financial Fair Play Rules.
