Reports suggest Real Madrid are closing in on Enzo Fernandez
According to Argentine journalist, Gustavo Mendez, Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez is close to signing for Real Madrid and will be announced after the World Cup.
Chelsea signed Enzo Fernandez two years ago from Benfica for a British record £107 million fee. However, Fernandez does not seem suited to manager Enzo Maresca’s style of play and his performances have been largely inconsistent and the mood around Stamford Bridge is that he has to leave. He has not been poor but Chelsea are unconvinced by his output and believe a move away is best for both parties.

Despite his recent inconsistencies, Enzo is still a world class midfielder capable of adding quality to any side.
Spanish giants Real Madrid are interested in signing the Argentine as they scramble to fix their depleted midfield. The Los Blancos have already signed two defenders this summer in Trent Alexander Arnold and Dean Huijsen and are now set to strengthen the middle of the pack.
It remains to be seen however, whether the Spanish sides would be able to cough out fees in excess of the £107 million that Chelsea paid to Benfica as the Blues would be aiming to recoup funds.
Chelsea on their own side will welcome the services of Andrey Santos and Estavo Willian who will be joining after spending the past season on loan.
