Manchester United will be in the market this summer for a proven goal-scorer as they look to improve their firepower after a disastrous season in front of goal. The Red Devils ended the 2024/2025 Premier League season as one of the teams with the least goals scored. Only 4 teams (Leicester 31, Ipswich 35, Southampton 25 and Everton 39) scored fewer league goals than Man United (42). A record Ruben Amorim’s side would be looking to avoid in the coming season. Neither Rasmus Højlund nor Joshua Zirkzee were able to spearhead the attack effectively for United despite the over €100 million combined fee splashed out on them. A situation that has prompted various speculations regarding their future.
Several in-form strikers have been linked with a switch to Old Trafford with Victor Osimhen heavily linked to the Theatre of Dreams.
We take a look at 6 strikers, one of whom could be joining the Red Devils this summer.
1. Victor Osimhen
The Nigerian born striker Victor Osimhen is a formidable force in attack having won the Capocannoniere (Serie A Golden boot) while helping Napoli win the Serie A title in the 2022/23 season, and repeating the same feat with Galatasaray in the Turkish league this season. He would no doubt be potent in front of goal for Man United if he joins. Although there is the small problem of his huge salary demand which could exceed £250,000 per week.

2. Liam Delap
Another option for Manchester United is the home grown Liam Delap who is currently with Ipswich Town. The England youngster would fancy a move away from Ipswich after being relegated to the Championship. Although not as lethal as Victor Osimhen, his hold up play is excellent and he is quite capable of taking on his man. At just 21 years old, Liam Delap scored 12 goals for Ipswich last season. United could trigger his £30 million release clause or reach a bargain for the striker.

3. Aleksandr Isak
Newcastle’s crown jewel, Isak is one of the most wanted strikers in the Premier League. Lethal and creative with great physical attributes, it would be quite difficult to lure him away from St James Park. However, should United win the Europa League which earns automatic Champions League qualification, they would improve their chances of landing the Swede. Also, a huge pay rise may be crucial in convincing Isak to leave Newcastle who are likely going to secure Champions League football themselves.

4. Viktor Gyökeres
Another Swede on Man United’s radar is the red hot Viktor Gyökeres. The Sporting CP striker notched 38 goals in 32 league matches last season and is poised to win the European golden boot. He would be a great addition to Manchester United having also worked with Ruben Amorim when the latter was manager at Sporting.
Viktor Gyökeres would likely be a cheaper option than Aleksandr Isak, although United would face stiff competition from other European rivals such as Barcelona, Chelsea and Arsenal.

5. Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Speaking of cheap, Man United could also sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer this summer after his contract with Everton runs out. The 28 year old has been the focal point of Everton’s attack over the years, but I doubt if Man United fans would be impressed with his 3 goals in 24 Premier League matches last season.

6. Benjamin Šeško
RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko could be on the move this summer. Though being heavily linked with a move to Arsenal, Man United could swoop in for the 21 year old who scored 21 goals in all competitions for Leipzig this season. Šeško is a versatile striker with good dribbling ability. Standing at 1.9 metres tall, he is also a good aerial threat, has rapid speed and good hold up play. Šeško would be an excellent addition to any team, and considering Leipzig would not be playing in Europe next season, Sesko could be an easy transfer target.
