3 Transfer Targets That Could Solve Chelsea Striker Problems

3 Transfer Targets That Could Solve Chelsea Striker Problems

Chelsea are one of the Premier League teams in the market this summer for a striker. The Blues have been all over the place in their search for a potent striker and have been quite unlucky over the years despite splashing out hundreds of millions in that department.

There were games this season where lack of firepower cost Chelsea the points. They have heavily relied on Cole Palmer in recent seasons but have looked out of sorts whenever the England international is out of form. They would be hoping to solve that problem for good if they’re to compete seriously in the Premier League and in Europe next season.

Here, we look at a few transfer targets that could help solve Chelsea’s striker woes:

3 Transfer Targets That Could Solve Chelsea Striker Problems

1. Viktor Gyökeres

A well rounded striker with a good mix of attributes Gyökeres could be the ultimate solution to Chelsea’s striking woes. Having scored 43 goals and racked up 15 assists in his first season with Sporting CP, the Swede has continued his impeccable form this season, scoring a whooping 62 goals and assisting a further 17 in all competitions.

He is poised to win the European golden boot after another stellar season.

Viktor Gyökeres is not just a goal scorer but also good on the ball and can create chances for his teammates.

Chelsea would be hoping to scoop the forward for less than the £85 million release clause on his Sporting CP contract. However they’re not alone in the race for the striker’s signature and would face steep competition from the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United with Barcelona also rumoured to be in the midst.

Nico Williams transfer news

2. Nico Williams

Although not your orthodox striker, Chelsea have been after Nico Williams for a while now. The Spanish international starred at the Euros and had since then attracted suitors from around Europe. Nico was close to signing for Barcelona last summer but the Catalans could not guarantee completing his registration in time for the new season.

Nico Williams is a dynamic wide forward known for his blistering pace, explosive dribbling, and direct attacking style. He excels in one-on-one situations, using his speed and agility to create opportunities himself and teammates. Although not particularly a striker, he possess the ability to add urgency to any teams attack and could provide the much needed spark to get this Chelsea side going. However, with Estavo Willian also set to join the first team, Nico might be a little surplus to requirement.

3 Transfer Targets That Could Solve Chelsea Striker Problems - Victor Osimhen

3. Victor Osimhen

Newly crowned Champion with Galatasaray, Victor Osimhen could be set for a return to Europe’s top five leagues. With Chelsea among the teams looking for a striker this transfer window, Osimhen looks like he might be a good fit at Stamford Bridge.

One common problem with strikers that have failed at Chelsea is a seemingly lack of confidence. However, Victor Osimhen is in no shortage of confidence after leading Galatasaray to the Turkish League title and winning the top scorer award in the process.

Having also won the top scorer award in Serie A with Napoli 2 years ago, Victor surely knows how to score goals. He is excellent with his feet and also a formidable aerial threat. Victor is also capable of pressuring opposition defences with his tendency to press.

Although Victor Osimhen seems to be a good solution, the striker might fancy a move to Old Trafford instead, having been turned down by Chelsea last summer after the Blues failed to match his salary demands.

Should Chelsea secure his signature, Osimhen would provide the needed firepower up front while also being a role model for the likes of Tariq George and Marc Guiu.
