Barcelona will sign players after contract renewals–Laporta

Laporta: New signings will come after contract renewals for key players

Club president Joan Laporta addressed a number of pressing issues on Monday night. With the La Liga and Copa Del Rey secured and the club having a largely successful season, Larpota projects that Barcelona’s income could be around a €1 billion.

“Barça will earn around €950m. That’s almost a billion euros. We’re very confident that we’ll be within the 1:1 rule”, Laporta told TV3.

With so much revenue coming Barcelona are looking to renew the contracts of a number of first team players as they prepare for the transfer summer window. A contract proposal is also on the table for Lamine Yamal to sign as soon as he turns 18. The teenage prodigy is also expected to wear the number 10 from next season.

“We’ve signed Szczesny for his experience and we offered him a new contract. We hope he continues!”, Laporta said “Raphinha and Iñigo’s renewals are also advanced.

When asked about Barça’s summer plans, Laporta said

“There will be changes in our squad this summer. Our rivals will also strengthen because they have seen that our team is the best right now”.

“We want to complete all renewals and then new signings will come”.

On a potential pursuit for last summer’s target Nico Williams, the president said that he is not priority right now.

“We valued Nico as potential signing last summer with Dani Olmo, but right now i think the club is valuing other players”.

Barcelona lost 2-3 to Villareal on Sunday.
