TRANSFER NEWS: Ryan Cherki has announced that he’ll be leaving Lyon this summer
The French winger was in tears after Lyon’s last game of the season bidding an emotional farewell to the supporters. After 15 years at Olympique Lyonnais, Cherki is now set for a new chapter with a potential move to the Premier League likely on the cards.
Cherki joined Lyon’s youth team back in 2010 as a 7 year old and rose through the ranks making his professional debut in October 2019 at the age of 16.

Lyon has confirmed the attacking midfielder would be leaving the club with a number of European suitors hovering around for his services.
Which English Clubs are likely to sign Ryan Cherki
There are lots of rumours surrounding Cherki’s future with several reports linking him to some Premier League sides. Below are the teams we think he’d likely join.
Liverpool
Arne Slot’s side are front runners to sign Cherki this summer. The Reds are heavily linked with a move for the Frenchman and reports suggest Cherki prefieres to join Liverpool as he likes the project at the club. Champions of England in Arne Slot’s first season in charge, it’s not a surprise that Liverpool are an attractive project and a likely destination for Ryan Cherki. The 21 year old could be a future replacement for the aging Mo Salah whom he would join in a possible front three.

Manchester City
Another team that could sign Cherki is Man City. Pep Guardiola would be looking to rebuild his side after a below par season, and with a number of first team players leaving this summer, Cherki could be a good fit for the forward positions, and therefore is a likely transfer target for Man City. He could fill the void that would be left by the departure of Kevin DeBruyne. Some reports have linked Cherki with a move to City this summer, and while Liverpool may be favourites to capture him, Manchester City is definitely in contention for his signature.
Tottenham
Spurs have not had a wonderful season even by their own standards, and if they fail to win the Europa League against Man United, their season could be considered catastrophic. They have a chance to rebuild next season however and a player of Cherki’s caliber would do their task of rebuilding a lot of goods.
A creative, left-footed attacking midfielder known for his flair, vision, and ability to create chances, Ryan Cherki thrives in the final third, using his dribbling, passing, and intelligence to unlock defenses.
Although Cherki may be suitable for Tottenham Hotspur, it is unlikely Tottenham would be suitable for Cherki due to their lowly 17th place finish in the league this season. However, winning the Europa League could improve their chances of signing Cherki and attracting other top talents this summer transfer window.

Newcastle
Newcastle’s qualification for European football next season makes them an attractive project for Ryan Cherki. The Frenchman would fancy a move to a Champions League club and Newcastle are poised to finish in the UCL spots.
With the club likely to cash in on one of their top players like Bruno Guimarães and Anthony Gordons, a replacement in the form of Cherki would be welcome.
